Nocturne Prototype
Starter Nocturne. The serum that was supposed to fix a plague, still unfinished, still hungry.
Prototype is the middle child of the starter trio. The Jack of All Trades badge names Nightweaver, Prototype, and Wraith. Public killer showcases hit Prototype second. The name is the lore: a test body, a serum that did not land clean, the thing the architects would rather you did not see in daylight.
Play patterns still obey the same trial laws as every other hidden role. Drink serum when nobody is looking. Hunt in the blackout. Vote an innocent if the room will follow. Close the hatch. The flavour is lab accident. The scoring is still zero Survivors out.

Identity without fake numbers
We do not have an official ability card with percentages. We have a name, a badge slot, and a showcase chapter. That is enough to pick a stance:
- In the light, Prototype should look like a clumsy Survivor, not a finished predator. Miss a loot pickup. Arrive late to a box and still help. Unfinished is your cover story.
- In the dark, stop being clumsy. The night form is the experiment succeeding. Isolated repair channels and players who turned back for tools are your lab notes.
- In the vote, do not give science lectures. One bent fact. Ride the wagon. The smartest Prototype in chat is the first name on a suspicion checklist.
If you wanted horror-voice pressure, Nightweaver is louder. If you wanted empty doorways, Wraith is emptier. Prototype is the “I was just grabbing parts” kit.
Human phase
Touch breakers. A Prototype who only orbits vials is a walking tutorial for Survivors. Drink once, well, then go be useful in a different wing. On Ruined Cathedral language maps, side rooms are for the sip, not for living there all cycle.
If someone asks why you were near bottles, you were checking loot. Then you must actually be holding loot or walking toward a box. Empty-handed alibis fail.
Night phase
Use the gas. Official copy says when the lights go out and the gas pours in, Survivors must escape to the next area. Stand on the route they must take, not on the body you already dropped. Prototype players lose by celebrating the experiment instead of ending the trial.
Two cycles. If the first night is a blank, the second is a wipe or you are writing a loss screen. See hatch notes on the monster guide.
Badge grind
Ten Prototype wins, counted separately from the other starters. Redeem codes so Runes exist, spend them here while this is the active step, then move to Wraith. Do not wait for Wendigo to replace this grind. N021 is a later ID, not a skip ticket.
Survivor answer
Prototype’s cover is incompetence. That means competence is your tell. If a player is bad at loot but perfect at being near vials, they are not new — they are acting new. Ask who actually finished power. Pair repairs. Leave when the gas starts. One hatch still beats a science project. Full living-side notes: how to survive and the Survivor tier list.
Play unfinished until the bottle is empty. Then finish the lobby.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Is Prototype a starter?
Yes. Jack of All Trades requires ten wins as Prototype along with Nightweaver and Wraith.
Is Prototype the same as Wendigo?
No. Wendigo was posted as N021. Prototype is a named starter. Do not mix the antlered key art with this kit.
How should Prototype act in the light?
Like a slightly clumsy teammate who still touches breakers. Do not camp vials. Drink once, unseen, and leave.
What counters Prototype?
Track vial linger versus actual loot. Buddy-repair. Vote facts, not vibes. Protect the hatch over a 1v1.
